Dwight Community Outreach
Dwight is dedicated to helping others in the communities in which Dwight's employees work and live by providing support to various charitable organizations, educational institutions, and the arts. The company established the Dwight Charitable Giving Committee as a means of administering charitable giving on behalf of the firm and its employees.
Each year, Dwight provides grants to specific organizations that seek to improve access to opportunities for community members of all ages so they can lead healthy and rewarding lives. Targeted areas for giving have initially been to the following:
- Children and Families
- Aging and Wellness
- Historical and Land Preservation
Organizations and/or specific programs are selected by the Dwight Charitable Giving Committee based upon the program or the organization's ability to reach members of the community in need and the ability of the organization or program to demonstrate cost-effectiveness.
In addition, Dwight encourages active employee participation, volunteerism, and philanthropy in the charitable organizations of their choice.

A blanket of gray clouds and at times heavy rain wasn't enough to keep 20 Dwight employees and their supporters from participating in the third annual Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival in August. This was the firm's first time participating in the charity event that supports Dragonheart Vermont, a breast cancer support program. Along with 98 other teams of local businesses, friends and families, the Dwight team of "Jocks and Bonds" finished in 3rd place, a testament to how well a group of people from all areas of the company can come together, work in rhythm, be strong and come out on top, all while supporting those in need in our community. In total, $160,000 was raised for Dragonheart Vermont and the Cancer Patient Support Program.

In May of 2008, a group of Dwight volunteers worked with the staff at Camp Hochelaga on the shores of Lake Champlain. Camp Hochelaga is the only YWCA-owned and operated residential girls' summer camp remaining in the country. Most of the maintenance and upkeep of the property is accomplished by volunteers. The day's activities included painting the exterior of the old arts building, the floors of the library and new arts building, moving furniture, and moving the counselor's tents to their summer platforms. An incredible amount of work was accomplished in one day and fun was had by all.

In February 2008, a group of Dwight employees participated in the "Penguin Plunge" event to raise money for the Vermont Special Olympics. With the support of friends and family and some creative in-house fundraising events, "The Great Dwight Sharks" raised $11,935 dollars for the non-profit organization and "plunged" into the icy waters of Lake Champlain!
